Cumbria’s official destination management organization will help highlight the benefits of introducing greener vehicles to businesses across the county.

Lloyd Motor Group becomes Cumbria Tourism’s latest strategic partner following the success of Cumbria Tourism’s ‘Electric Vehicle Journey’ with the all-electric Lloyd Motor Group BMW iX in September, with both companies committing to a long-term extension of their partnership.

As part of a long-term partnership, Lloyds Motor Group and Tourism Cumbria will continue to work together to promote greener modes of transport in the county.

The partnership was officially launched with the handover of the Lloyd South Lakes Volvo, the latest acquisition by the Lloyd Motor Group in Levens, near Kendal.

Lloyd Motor Group business executive Mark Smith meets Cumbria Tourism managing director Gill Haigh to introduce her to the Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge, a plug-in hybrid SUV, bringing sustainable technology to Volvo’s mid-size range SUV series.

Gill Haigh, Managing Director of Cumbria Tourism, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Lloyd Motor Group, with their expertise in the automotive industry and electric and hybrids, as our latest Strategic Partner.

“In our first week and a half we visited businesses across the county, including Bowness, Langdale, Borrowdale, Carlisle, Penrith, Kendal and Sedbergh, as well as Booths HQ in Preston.

“We can’t wait to test the various electric and hybrid vehicles that sit under the Lloyd Motor Group name.”

Sam Lloyd, Managing Director of Lloyd Motor Group, said: “We are very excited to start this long-term partnership with Cumbria Tourism. As we look towards environmentally sustainable mobility, the latest developments and advancements in electric vehicle technology are important topics for everyone”.

“We are proud to represent some of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers, and this is an excellent opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with electric vehicles.”

The XC-60 is part of Volvo’s sustainable transformation, which is committed to rethinking the sustainability of its operations, cars and society.

Volvo plans to have 50 percent of its sales fully electric by the mid-2000s and then all-electric by 2030.

Cumbria Tourism is pleased to present a like-minded brand fully committed to sustainability.
